Operator and scope
Birdlab operates Scanlilt. Contact support@birdlab.net. This policy covers the Android document scanner and this static website.
Documents and local processing
Camera captures, selected images and imported PDFs are processed on your device. The app creates bounded upright working copies, page edits, thumbnails, document titles, folders and optional extracted text in private app storage. Documents and recognized text are not uploaded to Birdlab or an OCR server. There is no account, cloud sync or application backend. PDF import creates rasterized page copies.
Text recognition and Google ML Kit
Bundled Google ML Kit recognizes Latin, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Devanagari scripts on your device. Google states that ML Kit does not send input images/text or recognition outputs to its servers. The SDK may contact Google for maintenance/compatibility and send device/app information, per-installation identifiers, API configuration, input/output sizes, event/error codes and performance/utilization metrics for diagnostics and analytics. See Google ML Kit privacy information.
Exports and sharing
Original selected files are not overwritten. Completed PDF/JPEG/TXT files can be saved to a location you choose or passed to an app you select in the Android share sheet. Recipient apps and storage providers apply their own policies. Exported copies can remain after project deletion or uninstall. Handwritten signature marks are drawing tools, not identity verification or certified electronic signatures.
Advertising and privacy choices
Google AdMob Mobile Ads and UMP provide ads and applicable consent forms. We request ads only when UMP permits them. Settings offers privacy options when required and an option to disable ads on this device. Editing and saving remain available without personalized-ad consent, an available ad or internet. Ads do not appear over camera, crop or OCR work.
Google advertising data
For ads, measurement, diagnostics and fraud prevention Google SDKs may process IP/network data and inferred approximate location, app/ad interactions, crash/performance data, advertising identifiers, app-set identifiers and other device identifiers. Transmission is encrypted. Actual processing depends on region, consent, settings and serving mode; non-personalized ads can still process data. Google determines retention of its data; Android provides supported advertising-ID controls.
Retention, deletion and permissions
Local projects remain until deleted, app data is cleared or the app is uninstalled. Project deletion removes the app's private working copies and text; external originals and completed exports remain yours. Android app backup is disabled. Camera permission is requested only for capture. Scoped system pickers and save dialogs select imports/exports; no contacts, location, microphone or all-files permission is needed. Scanlilt serves students and working adults, including ages16 and older, and is not directed to children.
Website and support
Cloudflare delivers this static site and may process IP/request/security metadata for delivery and protection. We add no site analytics, advertising scripts, cookies or tracking pixels. Email support receives your address and message to respond; do not send sensitive documents unnecessarily. You can request deletion of correspondence subject to legitimate retention duties.
Your choices and changes
Depending on your location you may have access, correction, deletion, objection, consent-withdrawal or complaint rights. Contact support@birdlab.net; only minimum verification may be requested. For data held directly by Google, Cloudflare, storage or sharing recipients, consult those services. We update this policy when actual processing changes.
